Raw Material_3: Myths and Poems
On this island, where as said, the nightingales sing more sweetly than anywhere else in Greece, the paths are carved by myths and poems. Within the ocean of time and in the footsteps of the Ancient Kitharode Arion, we follow the same route, from Methymna to the South of Italy. From the easternmost parts of the Aegean toward the West; to the places where, many centuries later, the same ancient myths explained once again the world.
Everything you will see this year can be imagend as the four facets of a single performance. Using the raw material of art and life, we study great works of Greek literature, both ancient and more recent. Persistently, we seek out the traditions and the simple human stories of this land, inviting the people of Methymna to share with us all those that still remain alive, to be told from mouth to mouth.
And within the unspoken parts of words, we bring music into the fold.
We invite you to our concerts from July 31 to August 2 at “Desmos” Cultural Venue in Molyvos, and on August 3 at the Museum of Industrial OliveOil Production of Lesvos, part of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, in Agia Paraskevi.
